The Critical Core Mass of Rotating Planets

چکیده
Abstract The gravitational harmonics measured from the Juno and Cassini spacecraft help us specify internal structure chemical elements of Jupiter Saturn, respectively. However, we still do not know much about impact rotation on planetary as well their formation. centrifugal force induced by deforms shape partially counteracts force. Thus, will affect critical core mass exoplanet. Once atmospheric becomes comparable to mass, planet enter runaway accretion phase become a gas giant. We have confirmed that masses rotating planets depend stiffness polytrope, outer boundary conditions, thickness isothermal layer. with Bondi condition is determined surface properties. increase gravity (i.e., innermost density). For Hill condition, soft polytrope shares same properties condition. Because total for increases decrease polytropic index, higher required planets. As result, in stiff model sharply increases. rotational effects more important when radiative convective regions coexist. Further, (Bondi) noticeably layer thinner (thicker).

Tidal dissipation in rotating giant planets
Many extrasolar planets orbit sufficiently close to their host stars that significant tidal interactions can be expected, resulting in an evolution of the spin and orbital properties of the planets. The accompanying dissipation of energy can also be an important source of heat, leading to the inflation of short-period planets and even mass loss through Roche-lobe overflow. Tides may therefore p...
متن کاملCritical Protoplanetary Core Masses in Protoplanetary Disks and the Formation of Short–period Giant Planets
We study a solid protoplanetary core undergoing radial migration in a protoplanetary disk. We consider cores in the mass range ∼ 1 − 10 M⊕ embedded in a gaseous protoplanetary disk at different radial locations. We suppose the core luminosity is generated as a result of planetesimal accretion and calculate the structure of the gaseous envelope assuming hydrostatic and thermal equilibrium. This ...
متن کاملSuper-rotating jets in the atmospheres of terrestrial planets
Introduction: Super-rotation is a ubiquitous phenomenon in the four substantial atmospheres possessed by solid bodies in the solar system. The slowly rotating planet, Venus, and moon, Titan, are both well-known to have atmospheres that rotate substantially more quickly than does the solid surface underneath. The more rapidly rotating planets, Mars and Earth, exhibit less spectacular global supe...
متن کاملThe Evolution of the First Core in Rotating Molecular Core
The standard star formation scenario is based on spherically symmetric radiative hydrodynamics calculations. In this paper, we focus on the evolution of the rotating non-spherical cloud through the first core and second collapse phases 10 < ρ < 10 3 g cm using axisymmetric numerical calculations. The rotating first core evolves under the influence of mass and angular momentum accretion from the...
